About me

Hello !

My name is Bastien JACQUES and I am currently studying at CentraleSupélec.
CentraleSupélec is a great school : top 2 engineering school in France, and part of University Paris Saclay : 12th in the Shanghaï ranking system.

I have many passions, including climbing, music, food, and of course engineering.

My particularity ? I love making technical projects, and I am very curious. Please check them out below !

Robotics developer intern at alten labs

CURRENT INTERNSHIP

At Alten labs, I’m part of the Mobile Robots project.
The final goal ?
Control a fleet of robots to rescue people in case of natural disaster.

For this goal, we have many tasks in parallel :

ROS2

Thanks to this framework, we make robots autonomous. In order to get better sensing, we use data fusions.

IsaacSim

In order to simulate and to improve our algorithms faster, we have recreated the environment and the behaviour of the robots

Swarm control algorithm

Custom algorithms are used to plan the best path for each robot, on precise criteria.

Godot

This game engine is used to have a pretty visualization of the simulated world.

A summary of my projects

At CentraleSupélec I had the opportunity to discover the world of engineering

PHENICS

We made the first supersonic rocket to fly at the camp de Ger. It involved CFD, Stress analysis, machining, and the making of a carbon fiber tube.

SIRIUS

We made a 20kg-3-meters-high double stage rocket. I was the mechanical lead of a 15-person team.

NYCS

We made a plexiglas little rocket, full of lights. The fly was at night, allowing us to see the trajectory more clearly.

APECS

We built an electric racing car. I made a 9kWh, 80kW battery + BMS.

PENELOPE

I made a foundry and was able to cast little pieces.

Computer Science Teacher

I was hired by my school CentraleSupélec to teach first year students the basics of computer science. I also had the opportunity to give a lesson on data structure.

SRGAN

I used a research paper to make a super-resolution GAN, using AI and machine learning, to improve the resolution of pictures.

API

I worked on an API between different applications.

Programming Games

I programmed many games : Java, C++, Python. It made me progress in programming and object oriented coding.

FPGA RISK IV PROCESSOR

I made a RISK IV processor like using FPGA. The project was made using VHDL and the Quartus Software.

MEMS SENSOR

I caracterized an acceleration sensor using the software Coventor. It was very interesting because it involved mechanics, electricity, and wave physics.

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE

I learned through a project how to decide when to make the maintenance to maximize the production while reducing the costs.

SUPPLY CHAIN

I simulated a delivery of hydrogene using trailors between the factory and the clients, to find the minimum number of trailors for requirements of the client.

WIND TUNNEL EXPERIMENTATIONS

I studied and experimented the behaviour of NACA wings with a wind tunnel.

ORATORY CONTEST

I participated to an oratory contest with TNP. It allowed me to undurstand how to best convince an idea.
